Attitudes of Children Toward Their Homeless Peers
Finds that housed children have negative attitudes towards homeless children in their school, which are exacerbated when the homeless child in an ethnic minority. Argues that such attitudes and associational preferences contribute to homeless children's poor attendance and academic performance. Based on a study of 158 white students at a middle school and a high school in Middlesex, New Jersey. Revised from a 1992 doctoral dissertation for Hofstra University.
