Building Solutions: a Business Perspective on Toronto's Homelessness and Housing Crisis
Examines the homeless situation for Toronto: who is homeless, who is at risk for homelessness, and the causes of homelessness. It also looks at the need to create affordable housing, and the need for assistance from the Federal and Provincial Governments, and the need for a National Housing Strategy. It also discusses the need to change the regulatory and tax environments, increase the supply of affordable housing and to expand Tenant Assistance programs. It also looks at the role of Business in the Homelessness crisis, and what Business can do to help. It supplies a list of current Toronto Board of Trade Initiatives, and gives a summary of their recommendations, as well as some examples of Comprehensive U.S. Programs. Looks at Toronto's Homelessness situation from the business perspective, shows the negative impact of homelessness on the business community, and the need for a concerted effort on behalf of the governments and the private sphere to increase Canada's supply of affordable housing.
