A discussion of the interrelationships between housing, health, & homelessness, drawing on statistical & other data from GB, the US, & Canada. Social changes, government policies, & economic conditions have contributed to increasing homelessness, resulting in such health problems as: sleep deprivation, nutritional problems, skin disease, respiratory ailments, physical & mental illnesses, & acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Effective service programs are described -- eg, information & advocacy centers, outreach projects, education programs, youth services, women's programs, & programs for AIDS patients -- & further recommendations are made for addressing these problems. 21 References.
