Moving to Nowhere: Children's Stories of Homelessness
Author(s):
Widespread family homelessness is a recent phenomenon in the United States. In the last decade the number of homeless families has increased dramatically. Because the phenomenon is relatively new, most helping professionals--psychologists, teachers, social workers, nurses, and doctors--have had little opportunity to learn about homelessness before meeting homeless children and their families. The purpose of this book is to provide a glimpse into the world of homeless children so that helping professionals may reach out more quickly and effectively to ease the burdens of these children and families. The view of homelessness presented here will be that provided by the children themselves through the stories they tell about their lives. (excerpt from the book)
