Pathways to Homelessness: a Case Study of the Housing Careers of Homeless People in Toronto
This research provides a case study of the housing careers of a sample of drop-in centre clients in Toronto. The purpose of the research was two-fold: to find out where people lived before coming to Toronto and to explore their housing characteristics before becoming homeless. Participants were interviewed and asked to describe their lifecourse housing experiences, beginning at place of birth to their present situation. A fourfold typology was derived inductively to provide a snapshot of the housing careers of interviewees.
