The Health of Homeless Women: Information for State Maternal and Child Health Programs
Author(s):
The Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant program (Title V of the Social Security Act) provides leadership to both the public and private sector to build the infrastructure for health care strategies addressing the needs of all mothers and children in the Nation, particularly low-income and other vulnerable isolated populations with limited access to health care. One population for which it is particularly challenging to provide health care is homeless women. The number of homeless women and families continues to increase, and the importance of developing strategies to reach these women and children becomes even more critical. (Authors)
