Measuring Integration

Measuring Integration can be useful for institutions or jurisdictions that want to assess the degree to which clients are receiving appropriately integrated services and/or to improve coordination efforts. An important consideration in thinking about integration is the degree to which an initiative is client-centred – that is, the degree to which clients experience timely and targeted access to the services they need when they need them. The following are potential measures of integration: structure (i.e. number of sectors, number of service delivery types, and degree of exchange between network members), functioning (i.e. the quality of a network), and effectiveness (i.e. the degree to which it meets client needs).

Examples:

AHURI Integration Survey, which includes metrics developed in previous studies of integration such as the Partnership Self-Assessment Tool and the Integration of Human Services Measure.
