What is systems planning?
Systems planning is the analysis, planning and design of an integrated system and defined service-delivery components that work together towards a common end; in this case to prevent, reduce and end homelessness. It requires identifying the basic components of a system and understanding how these relate to one another. Alignment across the system is integral to ensure the components of the system work together for maximum impact.

How does the Systems Planning Collective Work?
The founding partners are collaborating through the contribution of resources to support community system planning in a way that is consistent with their shared values. Rather than developing oneoff resources (toolkits, webinars, definitions, etc.) and engaging in consulting on projects as separate entities, the Systems Planning Collective is committed to leveraging partner strengths to support common objectives, such as ensuring plans to end homelessness are evidence-led, developed in equal partnership with Indigenous leaders, and include targeted youth strategies.
Our support includes:
- Technical assistance through a cost-recovery model to support communities and organizations directly in taking on initiatives aligned with our planning framework;
|
- Training and resources to enhance the capacity of individuals engaged in system planning activities (Both of staff/associates of the Systems Planning Collective, as well as independent contractors);
|
- Quality assurance standards to assess individual, organizational, or community capacity to engage in system planning and review their approaches and deliverables using common criteria.
