Homelessness in America: A Forced March to Nowhere

This book was written and published by the Community for Creative Non-Violence in Washington, D.C., to help increase public awareness and concern about the homeless population. It includes descriptions of individual homeless people and programs in New York, Richmond, Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. The authors describe protests conducted by the Community for Creative Non-Violence and include legislative testimony and a proposed policy to eliminate homelessness. One chapter focuses on the homeless who are mentally ill and concludes with a number of recommendations for service delivery and public policy. A number of dramatic pictures of homeless individuals and public protests are included.
