Housing as a Factor in Admission of Children to Temporary Care

A survey of family service workers at the Children's Aid Society of Metropolitan Toronto Canada found that in 18.4% of the cases the family's housing situation was one of the factors that resulted in temporary placement of a child into care. An inadequate family housing situation has a detrimental impact on the welfare of children, and child welfare organizations must pay more attention to housing policy and programs.
