Manager, Special Events

Agency Profile:

Our agency is an innovative, award winning and rapidly expanding organization. We work locally and nationally to prevent, reduce and end youth homelessness in Canada. We provide arrange of services to homeless and at risk youth. We are currently looking to add to our vibrant and enthusiastic management staff team by filling the vacancy Special Events Manager.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly creative individual with the ability to formulate and deliver a successful special events portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Development, the successful candidate will be a highly organized individual with an expertise in events and possess strong networking and presentation skills. This position is responsible for planning, enhancing and executing our annual signature events, as well as oversight and liaison responsibilities for our third party events.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Concept development, and all aspects of event planning and management
  • Work collaboratively with event volunteers/committees
  • Create/present event sponsorship proposals; provide stewardship and final reports
  • Manage ticket sales, event correspondence, all promotional materials
  • Provide all on-site logistics and management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in marketing or a related field with 5 years’ experience designing and executing successful events, or equivalent education/experience, ideally in a community based charity
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence; exceptional interpersonal and relationship skills;
  • Proven sponsorship solicitation skills; marketing and event delivery standards and logistics;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop event concepts and operationalize strategies
  • Professional presentation skills; track record of developing/increasing corporate engagement;
  • Experience managing vendors, consultants, agencies, writers, and other suppliers;
  • Organized, dependable, creative visionary with resilient energy and strong fundraising ethics
  • Ability to discern priorities; create/manage critical paths; performs positively under pressure
  • Excellent communicator, presenter, and writer with superb accuracy and attention to detail
  • Fundamental accounting skills; standard knowledge of CRA receipting rule
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and event management software
  • CFRE designation or working toward it would be an asset
  • Valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle required
