The City of Abbotsford piloted a project titled Coordinated Intake and Referral System for the City of Abbotsford.
The objective of this 4 year and 10 months project was to pilot and create a coordinated intake and referral system and test it after one (1) year with the aim of demonstrating how a community-wide systems approach can be implemented and achieve results in a mid-sized Canadian city.
Overall, the results of the project provide a self-sustaining foundation on which Abbotsford could launch a Housing First approach and provide a useful template for other similar-sized cities to do the same.
This project was funded in part by the Government of Canada's Homelessness Partnering Strategy’s Innovative Solutions to Homelessness program. The opinions and interpretations provided in the publication are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Government of Canada.
