Objectives
- Identify the unique health concerns of those experiencing homelessness in Canada.
- Take a thorough social history and refer patients to appropriate community services.
- Create a clinic that is welcoming to those who are homeless through anti-oppressive practice and a trauma-informed approach.
- Adapt screening, diagnosis, and management approaches for several common conditions to the experience of homelessness, including hypertension, diabetes, and communicable diseases.
- Recognize that housing status in itself, as well as poverty, is the fundamental health issue for those who are homeless.
