The LIFE Project primarily serves women, as well as some men, who experienced homelessness and live with co-occurring disorders in Los Angeles County, California. Kendra—a LIFE Project participant—describes her previous experiences with other mental health providers, “I don’t want to do their job, but I want them to listen to me.” In contrast, the LIFE Project encourages people to talk about their mental health issues. Elizabeth Stoltz, Program Director, discusses the importance of communication to recovery.
