RentSmart: Preventing Homelessness

Ready to Rent BC piloted a project titled Rentsmart Preventing Homelessness.

The objective of this 12-month project was to pilot the adaptation of the RentSmart prevention education model to address the specific needs of four target populations that are underserved through the existing program.

This initiative worked with key stakeholders to expand the program to new regions in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba, and adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of Indigenous youth, refugees, people leaving federal corrections, and those transitioning from shelters to housing.

This project was funded by the Government of Canada's Homelessness Partnering Strategy’s Innovative Solutions to Homelessness program. The opinions and interpretations provided in the publication are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Government of Canada.
