This report highlights the voices of those who struggle with transportation barriers in Winnipeg, Manitoba and puts forward practical policy solutions to achieve transportation equity. This research consulted with residents to better understand the struggles they have with getting to where they need to go. The first overarching recommendation in this report is to embed principles of equity into transportation planning. Transportation equity is the idea that everyone, regardless of physical ability, economic class, race, sex, gender identity, age or ability to pay should have access to public transit and active transportation options. Embedding principles of equity into transportation system design can help us build a transportation system that reduces the barriers for people experiencing transportation disadvantage.
