Street work against homelessness and violence among women

The Coalition sherbrookoise pour le travail de la rue piloted a project titled Street work against homelessness and violence among women.

The objective of this 12-month project was to pilot a street work intervention model to better serve precarious and marginalized homeless women and girls in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

The intervention model aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Coalition's current practices and to develop, evaluate and disseminate the results of new practices in collaboration with partners around issues of violence based on the sex and sexual exploitation. In addition, this project was an opportunity to connect directly with women and girls living with violence, to exchange with them and to better understand their realities, their needs and to exercise concrete solutions, to document them and to disseminate them at the local, regional, provincial and national levels in both official languages.

This project was funded by the Government of Canada's Homelessness Partnering Strategy’s Innovative Solutions to Homelessness program. The opinions and interpretations provided in the publication are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Government of Canada.
