Supervised Injection Services Toolkit

The purpose of this toolkit is to provide information and resources to assist when considering whether to provide supervised injection services (SIS) in Toronto. A SIS is a health service that provides a safe and hy gienic environment where people can inject pre-obtained drugs under the supe rvision of trained staff. In Canada, nurses provide this supervision.

This toolkit is intended for use by decision makers , potential service providers, and other community stakeholders. A working group of the Toronto Drug Strategy Implementation Panel developed the toolkit. The content draws on relevant policy and research, input from diverse st akeholders in Toronto, expertise from SIS operators and stakeholders in Va ncouver, and input from external reviewers. While this toolkit is focused on the Toronto context, it is anticipated that much of the content will be releva nt for other communities.
