Supportive Housing Worker

General Description:

The Supportive Housing Program provides assistance with personal care, housekeeping, and 24-hour emergency response to frail elderly persons and disabled adults in their own apartments. We are seeking qualified staff for relief purposes. Shift times will vary depending on the circumstances.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the clients of the Supportive Housing Program in the activities of daily living including shopping, housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and medication monitoring
  • Assist the client with personal care such as dressing, personal hygiene, mobility, toileting, eating, and other routines of daily living enabling each client to do as much as possible for her/himself.
  • 24-hour emergency response to building tenants.
  • Assist the client with appropriate socialization activities as per the client’s choice and emotional needs.
  • Demonstrated initiative and professionalism at all times with clients, families, and community contacts.

Knowledge, Education and Skill Requirements:

  • Experience working with seniors and disabled adults
  • PSW Certificate
  • First Aid/CPR an asset
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required
  • Must have a positive attitude and be committed to fostering a healthy team environment
  • Able to work in a smoking/pet environment
  • Experience in Supportive Housing an asset
  • Overnight and weekend availability is an asset
