Women and Fair Income: Knowledge into Action

Despite all we know about the impact of poverty on the lives of individuals and, by extension, on the health of the society in which we live, the extent and depth of poverty in Canada has not lessened. Three is a gap between the existence of evidence that this problem exists and the production and sharing of knowledge in ways that begin to address the problem. In the pages that follow, we describe a project that was undertaken with the explicit purpose of moving beyond statistics and lists of recommended actions – it was designed to give voice to the experiences of women living in poverty and engage others who knew little or nothing about poverty.
