The National Youth Coalition for Housing (NYCH) was established in 1982. NYCH focuses on youth homelessness and housing issues and it represents the nine State/Territory Youth housing and SAAP sectors. NYCH is one of three founding members of the Australian Federation of Homelessness Organisations (AFHO).

The key aspects and features of a youth homelessness service system and a national homelessness strategy conceptualized by the National Youth Coalition for Housing (NYCH) are discussed. However, the NYCH found several elements that were left out of the model and the topics that need to be incorporated are highlighted.
