Each year, Choices for Youth in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, works to empower at-risk youth from across the province. Recently they began to mobilize efforts towards the development of a provincial plan to end youth homelessness in NL. This week’s infographic comes to us from Choices for Youth’s End Youth Homeless in Newfoundland and Labrador website, which serves as a starting point in the creation of a plan.

The Importance of Relationships Among Youth Experiencing Homelessness

This week’s infographic is from Rock Trust, an Edinburgh, UK-based organization that educates and supports homeless and at risk youth to enable them to build the skills required to make a positive and healthy transition to adulthood. The infographic, based Rock Trust’s Beyond Homelessness report, demonstrates the positive impact both formal and informal relationships can have for young people.

Infographic: Homeless LGBTQ Youth

This week’s infographic comes from Trans Student Educational Resources (TSER), a youth-led organization in Los Angeles dedicated to transforming the educational environment for trans and gender nonconforming students. They estimate that between 320,000 and 400,000 LGBTQ youth experience homelessness in the US each year and 40% of youth who are homeless in the US identify as LGBTQ. In New York, the average age at which a lesbian or gay youth becomes homeless is 14, while the age for transgender youth is 13.5 years old.
