Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and Juvenile Justice: How Professionals Can Make a Difference

Young people with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) are at an increased risk for involvement with the juvenile justice system. This fact sheet describes the link between FASD and problems with the criminal justice system as well as the challenges for youth affected by FASD. It discusses how the system can help youth with unrecognized FASD and the precautions that attorneys and juvenile justice personnel can take to help these youth.
