NHSRU Research project at the data collection stage funded by SSHRC (2004-2006). The research goal is to understand the impact of the transition from the streets to supported housing for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness and chronic alcoholism. This will be accomplished by eliciting the views and observations made by participants in portraying their experiences as they move from the streets to supported housing. The key objectives are to: Identify the circumstances that led to becoming homeless and chronically dependent on alcohol; Chronicle the experience of moving from the streets to a supported housing initiative; and Identify benchmarks of success in participating in a managed alcohol environment
