Karen Naidoo
Post-Doctoral Fellow
Karen Naidoo (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness (COH), specializing in content development and knowledge mobilization within MtS. As a COH fellow, Karen will help to support the dissemination of research knowledge on interventions that end or prevent the experience of homelessness for young people to policymakers in government and service providers.
Karen holds a Ph.D. in Education from York University. Her research interests focus on understanding how young Canadian-Caribbean people living in Canada respond to mental health issues. Her research is significant for Canadian-Caribbean peoples, as it interrogates how state institutions use race and culture to determine how health resources are accessed. Karen has also worked in parts of the Anglo-Caribbean on projects that draw attention towards youth, mental health, and crime prevention while instructing courses in the Caribbean Studies Certification Program at Ryerson University, Toronto.
