King Home Based Housing piloted a project titled Youth Action Center (YAC).
The objective of this 13-month project was to pilot, create and implement a coordinated system of comprehensive reception, referral and service delivery to better serve youth (aged 16-24) who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness in one location, Kingston, Ontario.
The project created a care system that was easy to make accessible and responsive to the needs of youth, drawing on the support of key services and existing partnerships that would bring all supports to one location, and assess measures of project success and outcomes after one year of operation. This site is called The Youth Action Center (YAC) and is co-led by traditional and non-traditional youth service delivery partners in Kingston, Ontario.
This project was funded by the Government of Canada's Homelessness Partnering Strategy’s Innovative Solutions to Homelessness program. The opinions and interpretations provided in the publication are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Government of Canada.
